Eddie's Bio
Eddie Francis is a communications strategist, award-winning broadcaster, and ethical leadership speaker. He hosts “The Way Forward” on WBOK radio in New Orleans and “For Our Edification,” a personal leadership podcast, and he is the author of The D9 Leadership Blueprint: Personal Leadership, Ubuntu, and Collective Impact. He has been quoted and featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Huffington Post, Inside Higher Ed, and Careers in Government. Eddie has also appeared on various podcasts, including “Confessions of a Higher Ed CMO,” “The Horrible Boss Effect,” and “ILLUMENATE” among others. He’s been recognized for New Orleans Magazine’s “30 People to Watch,” the Press Club of New Orleans’ Best Radio Entertainment Feature, and two nominations for AMA’s Higher Education Marketer of the Year. Eddie earned his master’s in strategic leadership from Tennessee State University and his bachelor’s from Loyola University New Orleans.

I liked the talk about leadership I wish you would go in more depth about what being a leader truly entails and actionable steps to become a leader for 20 years old. Discipline. You talked about having motivation which is powerful but I would argue that having discipline is more important as a skill for a leader rather than motivation. Some days things go wrong and get twisted and you lose that motivation. But if you have the strong discipline it will help you to show up for your team and get the job done.

I would describe Mr. Eddie’s session as very informative and engaging. He instantly pulls your attention upon taking the stage with his keen sense of humor and charisma. Throughout the presentation, he was confident and asked the crowd interesting questions to keep the audience engaged and thinking. I walked away learning a lot from Mr. Eddie, and am super thrilled that I was able to hear what he had to say.

Eddie spoke a lot about his personal journey, and then extended the topics and pillars of leadership to us and spoke about the value of connection. Although I was a bit sad to see the usage of AI even though all of his work centered on connecting with people and utilizing their skills, the knowledge he passed along was still very good.

Eddie shared good leadership strategies that can be incorporated into our D9 organizations as well as our churches. He gave me hope when he reminded us of our strong ancestors who survived. The stronger we are in faith, the stronger we will be. We must bring our light into this darkness and lean on the Lord.

I would say that it was very informing and a great experience. It taught me a lot about working together with not just my organization but opening up to working with different organizations. It taught me how to understand other sides of situations and not just one side of it. It taught me give or take.
