How attendees describe this talk
Very powerful. Mindful. Conscious. Eye opening for Social Workers and people who work in similar fields. Gives you a perspective of someone who faced adversity and grew up the in the system. Take in what he says so that you are less likely to judge and expect kids to behave a certain way when dealing with adversity. Some social workers lose a sense of reality as it relates to kids who grow up in environments they never grew up in or know anything about. Also learn to say what you mean & mean what you say. Be honest with kids and intentional.

This session was inspiring and confirming of the reason why I do the work I believe God has called me to do. Antonio’s story resonates with so many of our children in the DCFS system and he gave practical insight on how to change our narrative, our use of labels and the impact that our communication has on the young people and families we have the privilege to serve.

Antonio’s personal story made the session relatable in terms of the child we work with. His insights on labeling and the words used to describe children are impactful, fostering a deep level of introspection and a commitment to be cognizant and intentional with what we say and do with the young people we work with.

Powerful message. Helps you to feel a child's experience in the foster system and in out of home care. Helped me to remember why I do this job. Helped to bring back my passion!! Affirmed that I know to do what I do and how to say it... in Love. ....See through the junk! THANK YOU Antonio

Inspirational and relatable. By incorporating his own experience in Foster Care, he was intentional with his words as well as the message being relayed regarding labels and the significance of being conscious with our daily interactions. —Satori

This was a very moving presentation. Although I don't work with foster children I do the assessments to assess suitability for foster homes. I would certainly recommend him to come back and present in the schools. Excellent!

Today’s session was a great reminder as to how powerful words are and that we have an opportunity to change the trajectory of a child’s life simply by the words we choose.

You said it all. I was going to step away from fostering but yesterday created a shift in me and my mom to continue.
