How attendees describe this talk
Engaging and relevant. I loved the opening monologue. There were some Rapid-fire parts in the middle with a lot of information but k think you wee just trying to fit the presentation in. Your own experience built lots of ethos.
This was the most relevant keynote speaker we’ve had for the preserve week of school. Mr. O’Neil was inspiring and very informative. His passion and expertise in teaching is apparent.
It offered engagement through movement, videos, and variation in presentation styles. His energy was very positive and helped get me excited for the school year.
That it is amazing and there is valuable information to motivate your students and keep them growing and love learning even when they are having a hard time grasping the material.
Very engaging speaker who did more then just talk at us for an hour. You allowed time for us to talk to other teachers and be a part of your speach
It is our job as teachers to meet students where they are at and we adjust as teachers to meet their needs. Not the other way around
Amazing reminders about what education should be inside the classroom. Joy is important for all of us to learn. Thanks James!
As a newer teacher I think this was really helpful in building the skills that I know I need to continue to develop.
The information presented was very relevant. I feel like I can actually use the things I heard in my own classroom.
Feedback for James and the event
We can't offer extra credit, it's against policy, but I got it, we all got it... But maybe just as you go around to different countries find a way to incorporate that praise tactic without the ec... I went to UNC-C also :)
This was a good choice for the start of the school year. I loved that he showed his competence through student narratives and through data. He showed me these theories actually worked rather than just saying it.
I took a training that really inspired me - It’s called “Conscious Discipline” - I think you’d like it! You and the training I’m mentioning have both really inspired me for this year! Thanks!
While I love the extra credit ideas, our district has a hard policy against extra credit. How could this idea be leveraged in a way that is in line with MCPS policy?
We are working hard to implement career readiness into lesson learning for all 6-12 kids. This event allowed me to add valuable tips into my classroom methods.
This was wonderful. Wish we could have this a couple times throughout the year to reset some mind sets
Motivational speaker is important for us educators but also for students. Thanks for this learning.
Maybe provide slides to attendees to help with creation of and application of principles.
I would love for him to speak to the students and share his inspiration 🤗
