Do I need a new Survey Code each time I talk?

Short answer? No!

Hey everyone!

Nice straightforward one for today! The quick answer is No!

The longer answer is Noooooo…. Just kidding. Let’s dive into how this works, and why the survey codes are intended to be reusable.

‍

See, the way the Survey Codes work is that as soon as the survey is opened for the first time, a 30 minute ‘window’ is opened.

If you have a scheduled event, that ‘window’ (that block of data) is then attached to the first available event, on the date the feedback came in, if one is scheduled.

Any feedback that comes in during those 30 minutes is collected together into the scheduled event, or into a newly created 'blank' event (just feedback, no title or organization). This ensures that none of your feedback is ever lost!

‍

If you have any stragglers, who respond outside that window they will come in as little bits of feedback in their own ‘blank’ events, but you can always merge those events into the main one.

This also means that if you are giving the same presentation on two different days, you can use the same code without any worries, because the information will be separated by when the feedback comes in!

‍

The idea is that as long as you are asking the same questions, and giving out the same bonus, you don’t need a different survey code! That said, if you have need of a locked code (see ‘How to use Locked Codes’) then obviously you’ll want a separate survey code for in person events.

‍

Additionally, it should be noted that after the data comes in, there’s no longer any connection between the collected responses and the survey code. That means you can delete it, change questions, alter the bonus, rename it, whatever you want, and it won’t impact your already collected data! Feel free to change it up after an event, just remember that if you change the ‘Name’ of the survey code, it will change the QR code, so you’ll need to update your slide.
