Wondering where the number on your Talk Report is coming from? Let's talk maths!

Hello hello!
Wanted to give a quick overview here of the formula used for this widget:

If you look at the above image. It shows 20 responses. but the graph shows 8 very positive and 10 positive. At first glance you may think the positive score should be 90% but it displays 81%. Why is that?
The way the scoring on that widget works:
The % in the gauge isn't "% of people who were positive," it's a weighted average score.
Each rung gets a fixed score:
• Very positive = 100
• Positive = 75
• Neutral = 50
• Negative = 25
• Very negative = 0
Then: (sum of score × count) ÷ total responses
So for 20 answers — 8 very positive, 10 positive, 1 neutral, 1 negative:
(8×100) + (10×75) + (1×50) + (1×25) = 1625
Then, 1625 ÷ 20 = 81.25 → 81%
Read it as "the average answer sits between Positive and Very positive, closer to the top" rather than as a share of respondents
This is called “Weighted Average”
Hope that all makes sense. Fun with Maths!
Until next time! 👋
